My Climate Pledge
A message from the artist:
“When I’m not in my studio or teaching I spend every moment I can out in nature. Whether it be Hiking, climbing, kayaking or camping I don’t take much persuading to get outside on adventure.
Spending time in nature reminds me to be conscious of my impact on the environment, Not only when I’m outdoors but also in my daily life, and as an artist.
Conscious consumption of materials and production of waste products for any business in today’s market is important. So Here’s a little bit about what I’ve been up to in order to bring balance to my creative practice and business..”

Short answer, yes.
As artists we can be pretty wasteful when it comes to paper. Planning artwork in advance can help this but not everything always works out as planned.
To give back to the planet I’ve teamed up with Just One Tree:
https://www.justonetree.life/
For every fine art print sold I will donate £1 to Just One Tree who will use that to plant one tree on our behalf.
Check out their website above to see some of the amazing work they do. Why not plant a tree while you’re there :)

Much of the fine art paper market is saturated with cotton rag papers yes. They’re extremely durable which offer artist longevity in their work due to their archival properties.
Synthetic alternatives are often plastic based which of course come with their own negative impacts.
I have chosen to use an agave blend from Hahnemuhle’s Natural Line range, with it’s composition being made up of 70% Agave.

In 2020 this paper won awards for it’s print quality whilst the company won the German Sustainability Award in 2022 for their plant-based papers.

For the sake of my business and the environment I don’t want to be sat on a load of stock that may or may not sell. So I’ve chosen to invest in the facilities to print on demand, right from my studio.
This cuts out the middle man meaning your fine art print has less of an impact on the environment, going directly from me to you. It also means every product is quality checked by me personally.
I print using an Epson EcoTank ET-8550. These printers use refillable tanks instead of cartridges and the refill bottles are much easier to recycle than the traditional inkjet cartridge. EcoTank printers also use less power than laser printers saving money and energy, according to this review:
